I want to tell you aboutĀ Iris.

In her first applications, she was

←

The result: Rejected by Stanford and every Ivy League school she applied to.

The next year, she abandoned the Impressiveness TrapĀ

and applied using my strategy. She had originally planned to graduate from high school early, but changed her mind after not getting into her dream schools, allowing her a second opportunity with admissions officers. Her second application:

  • Focused on her core beliefs of gender equity and economics
  • Created oneĀ meaningful impact project: Wrote and published a gender-neutral economics textbook for middle school students
  • Dropped sports, music, and most clubs to make time for her impact
  • Lighter course load

Ā The result: She was admitted to Stanford and multiple Ivy League schools.

Same student. Less ā€œimpressiveā€ activities. Better results.

Why? Because the second time, she could clearly answer the two questions admissions officers actually ask:

  1. Who are you?
    2. Why does it matter?

The first application showed she worked hard. The second application showed who she was and how she'd make the world better.

Listen to Iris tell her story in her own words.
